ManU Would Lose 50% Of Profit From Anthony Martial Transfer If Club Offloads Player

French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco stands to receive a "huge sell-on fee" if ManU offloads Anthony Martial before the close of the '18 summer transfer window, according to James Ducker of the LONDON TIMES. Details leaked this week of the transfer agreement between Monaco and ManU for Martial reveal the "extraordinary lengths" ManU was prepared to go to secure the French striker's services. In addition to paying a projected €80M ($87.1M) fee for Martial -- a world record for a teenager -- ManU agreed to a series of clauses that will entitle Monaco to 50% of "any profit on the player should he be sold within the next two and a half years." On top of an initial fee of €50M ($54.4M) payable over the course of Martial’s first season in England, Monaco will receive three separate €10M ($11M) payments "if the forward scores 25 goals in competitive matches for United, makes 25 appearances for France or is shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or." If Martial achieved none of those targets and was sold before '18 for between €60M ($65M) and €100M ($109M), Monaco would earn 50% "on the profit of any sale" above that €60M figure (LONDON TIMES, 1/20).
