Argentine First Division Side River Plate Renovating, Improving Training Facilities

Argentine first division side River Plate's Ezeiza training grounds "are undergoing renovations that are expected to be completed by March," according to Federico Del Río of OLÉ. When River Plate Manager Marcelo Gallardo signed his contract with the club, one of his requests was "work on the facilities at Ezeiza." The renovation "will be so complete that once it is finished, the current facilities will be used exclusively by River Plate's youth teams." A new, 500-square-meter locker room is being built, and there will also be a 300-square-meter dining hall. River Plate VP Jorge Brito said, "Marcelo was concerned with improving the area and he even gave us a lot of suggestions for the design of the locker room." There will also be three new fields "with the same dimensions, type of grass and drainage system as the surface" at the club's stadium. The investment will cost 14M Argentine pesos ($1M) (OLÉ, 1/7).
