Marketplace Roundup: Worcester Wolves Announces Partnership With Westlands Toyota

British Basketball League side Worcester Wolves announced "a new partnership with the city's Westlands Toyota dealership." The sponsorship agreement "is the second partnership in the last week for the professional basketball team, after Spire South Bank Hospital" announced its support (WORCESTER OBSERVER, 12/13). ... The Ghana FA has "dismissed reports it is in advanced talks" with telecom MTN toward becoming the new headline sponsor of the Premier League. Discussions "are rife" between GFA and First Capital Plus Bank (now Capital Bank) "over the future of their sponsorship agreement for the Ghanaian top flight." GFA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara said, "No. We are not in talks with MTN over sponsoring the league" (GHANA SOCCER NET, 12/11). ... Handball Bundesliga (HBL) club TBV Lemgo has renewed its main sponsorship deal with Phoenix Contact for another three years until June 30, 2019. The company has been a partner of the club since '12 (TBV Lemgo). ... English League One side Sheffield United teamed up with foreign exchange consultancy, Int'l FX, "to form a new partnership" that will initially run until the end of the '15-16 season. The new partnership will see IFX branding "on new commercial assets at Sheffield United which will be unveiled to supporters at the Sky Sports televised fixture versus Coventry City on Sunday (BDAILY, 12/11). ... Premiership rugby side London Irish announced a commercial partnership with Redrow Homes for the '15-16 season. The company was recently named Best Large Housebuilder in the U.K. (London Irish). ... The Irish Cup announced Tennent's Lager as its new backer. Tennent's Lager is already the Northern Ireland team's official beer partner and recently secured a five-year contract to supply draught beers and ciders at the new National Football Stadium for Northern Ireland at Windsor Park (Irish FA). ... Engelbert Strauss, the European company for work-wear and personal protective equipment, has signed for a further two seasons as an official sponsor of the men's and women's European Handball Federation Euros. The company is extending its involvement as a result of an agreement signed with Infront Sports & Media. Engelbert Strauss will benefit from advertising in the highly-visible middle circle as well as in-goal floor signage and LED advertising throughout the events. Further activation and hospitality complete the rights package, stretching across all upcoming events and markets from the Men's EHF Euro 2016 taking place in Poland Jan. 15-31, to the women's event in Sweden Dec. 4-18 and the 2018 editions in Croatia and France, respectively (Infront). ... Southwold brewer Adnams "has been named the official beer partner of the BNY Mellon Boat Races for the next six years." The boat races, "which include both the men's and women's contests between the Oxford and Cambridge university teams on the River Thames," take place on March 27 (EAST ANGLIAN DAILY TIMES, 12/11).
