Event Notes: Tour De Yorkshire 2016 Unveils Three-Stage Route

The route of the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire has been revealed. Split into three stages, the cycle race covers 515.5km (320 miles), and will see riders "weave across the Yorkshire landscape." The race starts on April 29 in Beverley, East Yorkshire, and will end on May 1 in the North Yorkshire resort of Scarborough (BBC, 12/9). ... The women's world squash championships in Malaysia "have been called off, the tour's governing body said, in another blow for the sport" after the men's team event in Cairo was canceled for security reasons. Plans for the women's tournament "have been dogged by confusion after a row erupted" between the event's promoters and Malaysian authorities over claims of "funding problems and security threats." The London-based Professional Squash Association announced the championships, which were set to begin on Dec. 11 in Kuala Lumpur, "will not be staged in 2015 following notification from the tournament promoters" (AFP, 12/9). ... Glasgow Warriors will face Racing 92 in "their rearranged European Rugby Champions Cup match" in Paris on Jan. 9. The fixture, which was originally scheduled to be played in Round 1 of the competition on Nov. 14, was postponed "following the terror attacks on Paris the previous day" (STV, 12/9). ... All runners taking part in this weekend’s SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Hyères, France, will be invited to carry an "I Run Clean" message on their bibs to show their commitment to a doping-free sport. The bibs will carry the words "I Run Clean" under the names of each participating athlete (European Athletics).
