Northampton Coach, Fans Urging Chair To Sell Club

League Two side Northampton officials have issued a "passionate plea" to Chair David Cardoza to sell the club, according to the PA. Players and staff at the club are "not getting paid and the club have been issued with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue and Customs." Emotional Manager Chris Wilder said that the doubt over Town's future was "tearing us all apart," while a statement on Northampton's official Facebook page urged Cardoza to "stop playing with our club." Northampton won 2-1 at Notts County on Saturday to sit third in the table, and after the win Wilder said, "I know there is a deal to be done that will take this club forward. That deal is on the table now, we are playing with people's livelihoods here and that deal has got to be done." The statement posted on Northampton's Facebook page came from an "unidentified person or persons with access to post there on behalf of the club." It said, "David Cardoza, please stop playing with our club, the supporters, the sponsors, the livelihoods of the players and staff, our families, a much loved community asset and almost 120 years of history" (PA, 11/21).
