Chelsea Owner Considering $108M Bid For Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo

Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich has "already designed a revolutionary project" which he hopes will give the club a lift, according to Tomás Roncero of AS. Cristiano Ronaldo will be the "standard bearer" in Abramovich's "new-look Chelsea." He knows "all about" Ronaldo's current situation and that the player is also on Paris St. Germain's agenda, which is why he is preparing an "irresistible offer via the player’s agent Jorge Mendes." Abramovich is "willing to table" a €100M ($108M) bid for Ronaldo "if need be." The offer has "already been studied and approved" and Real Madrid is "likely to know all about it." Abramovich plans to fund the transfer by offloading Eden Hazard, Oscar and Nemanja Matić. Ronaldo is under contract with Real Madrid until '18. On Monday night, Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho showed that "the differences" between him and Ronaldo are a "thing of the past." He attended the premiere of the player's new documentary "despite his current situation with Chelsea." Ronaldo "also seems to have buried the hatchet," telling reporters, "Return to work with Mou? Why not? No one knows what the future holds" (AS, 11/12). In London, Pete Jenson reported the way the working relationship between Ronaldo and Mourinho "soured dramatically in their final season together -- with other players having to prevent the forward going for his manager during a heated dressing room row -- suggest that any reunion would not be easy." It "is clear, however, that despite public noises to the contrary Real Madrid are not completely closed to the idea" of selling Ronaldo while his market price "remains so high" (DAILY MAIL, 11/12).
