After 30 months of construction, the future stadium of Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais “is close to completion,” according to Catherine LaGrange of LE PARISIEN. The sport complex “will be delivered January 6, 2016,” and will be the “most innovative stadium in France.” The Stadium of Lights will have 56,000 seats and the “club’s training center will offer year-round karting, bowling, indoor football and laser tag.” The stadium will also hold “the OL boutique, an upscale hotel, 20,000 square meters of offices, a museum and a health club, together financed by €450M ($507M) from the club and private investors.” Stadium access development valued at €200M ($225M) was “supported by the city of Lyon, France and Sytral, the public transport manager for Lyon.” The stadium will also be “the most connected stadium in Europe.” Its 25,000 Wi-Fi terminals will “help spectators with a smartphone find their seat, order and pay for food at half-time, and choose cameras to watch replays of the action.” Jan. 9 will be the date of its “first match before Euro 2016 in June” (LE PARISIEN, 10/6).
