Tickets For AFL's Fremantle-Hawthorn Final Being Resold For Up To $490 On Ticketmaster

Ticketmaster is reselling tickets for Australian Football League side Fremantle's preliminary final against Hawthorn on Friday night for more than A$700 ($490), according to Brendan Foster of THE AGE. The agency has a service called Ticketmaster Resale, which creates a "marketplace" for people to buy and sell tickets, "meaning members who have already bought tickets can resell them online -- for a price they can set themselves." Ticketmaster Resale had four tickets for sale in the first level of the three-tier stand at Domain Stadium for A$702.78 ($491.52) each just after 10am on Wednesday morning. And "if you want to sit in the forward pocket at the Subiaco end for West Coast's preliminary final against Hawthorn on Saturday night," it will cost a "cool" A$575 ($402) each through its "marketplace" resale. Footy-goers inundated Radio 6PR on Wednesday morning "complaining about Ticketmaster's inflated prices." A spokesperson for Ticketmaster contradicted "what many outraged footy fans had told Fairfax Media and Radio 6PR." The spokesperson said, "For high demand events, a secondary market will be active. Ticket holders, not Ticketmaster Resale, control the inventory and the price of the tickets, which can be listed above or below the original face value" (THE AGE, 9/23).
