Hungarian handball club Veszprem announced that ANTONIO CARLOS ORTEGA is no longer its coach. Assistant coach XAVIER SABATÉ will take over on an interim basis (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 9/21). ... Spanish second division side Elche's administrative council named JUAN SERRANO president of the club. Serrano previously served as president of Elche during the '03-04 season. He replaces JUAN ANGUIX (EFE, 9/21). ... League One side Peterborough appointed former Stevenage and Preston Manager GRAHAM WESTLEY to replace DAVE ROBERTSON, who "was sacked earlier this month." Westley was confirmed on Monday. The "length of this contract was not disclosed" (London GUARDIAN, 9/21). ... Fox Int'l Channels has appointed FRANK RUTTEN as EVP Sports FIC Europe & Africa. Rutten "will report directly" to FIC Europe & Africa President JAN KOEPPEN. He "combines his new role with his existing duties as managing director of FOX Sports in the Netherlands" and will continue working from the FIC office in Amsterdam. The appointment underlines FIC's ambitions in Europe and Africa "to create and develop local multi-media sports channels." Rutten is the former general director of professional football club Roda JC Kerkrade (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 9/21). ... Little League Int'l Senior Communications Exec WAYNE HENNINGER left his post to start a communications consultancy, and plans to open a PR firm with a sports focus within a year. Little League Int'l is one of his first clients (THE DAILY). ... Croatia's national football team hired ANTE CACIC "to replace" NIKO KOVAC as manager. Cacic had been coaching Lokomotiva Zagreb. He has "previously managed Dinamo Zagreb and Slovenia's Maribor" (ESPN, 9/21).
