San Lorenzo VP Marcelo Tinelli Deemed Eligible To Run For AFA Presidency

Argentina Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández said on Wednesday that Argentine first division side San Lorenzo VP Marcelo Tinelli "is a VP of a club and I believe that the conditions are met" for him to be a candidate for the presidency of the Argentine FA, according to TÉLAM. The election of the new AFA president will take place March 1 and Tinelli's candidacy "was accepted unanimously" (TÉLAM, 8/19). LOS ANDES reported the AFA published on its Twitter account "a detailing of the decisions taken at the meeting of its exec committee." The "most salient was the new interpretation of article 50 of its regulations." The AFA decided to "interpret article 50 with the conclusion that prior experience in a director role is not required to run for the presidency of the AFA" (LOS ANDES, 8/19).
