Watchmaker Omega President Urquhart Says Brand Wants To Expand Golf Portfolio

Omega President Stephen Urquhart oversees the watchmaker’s golf sponsorships that next year will include the company's involvement with the PGA Championship, the Rio Olympic Games and the 2016 Ryder Cup, according to John Lombardo of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. He is not done trying to expand the company's golf portfolio. Urquhart said, "We are looking at one or two more markets." The company, along with Mercedes-Benz and Samsung, is a top-level patron sponsor of the PGA of America. The deals run in the seven figures annually. Urquhart gave no timetable on any future sponsorship opportunities in golf. He said, "We are looking at ladies' tours. We have ideas" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/17 issue).
