Liga MX President ENRIQUE BONILLA said that former Mexican national football team coach MIGUEL HERRERA, who was "fired for hitting a journalist," will not be able to coach a team during the current season. Bonilla: "Members of the coaching staff of any national team, in any division, cannot be contracted by a club during the tournament in which they stopped participating" (EFE, 8/11). ... F1 CEO BERNIE ECCLESTONE "has picked" FERNANDO ALONSO "as one of the two drivers he would have in his all-time F1 dream team." Ecclestone was one of a number of senior F1 figures "asked to pick two drivers, a team principal and a car from the sport's history to make up their dream team." Picking Alonso as one of the drivers, Ecclestone also opted for 1970 world champion JOCHEN RINDT. As his team principal, Ecclestone chose former Benetton and Renault boss FLAVIO BRIATORE to head up the team. He also picked the Bragham BT49 which took NELSON PIQUET to his first drivers' championship in '81 (SPORT 360, 8/11). ... EPL club Everton Manager ROBERTO MARTINEZ "believes the transfer window should close once the new season starts so that clubs can focus on the competition without worrying about interests in their players." Martinez "has been critical of Chelsea's continued pursuit" of Everton defender JOHN STONES. Martinez: "The window, when it is open and we have to prepare for official games, is very, very unfair. I don't think it is right" (REUTERS, 8/11). ... Chelsea doctor EVA CARNEIRO "could be axed from the team bench this weekend after going public with her reaction to criticism" from Manager JOSE MOURINHO. The Gibraltar-born medic, 41, "is not expected to be on the bench" for Sunday's game at Man City. Carneiro and First Team Physio JON FEARN "were both publicly criticised by Mourinho for entering the pitch late in the game to treat injured" player EDEN HAZARD (London DAILY MIRROR, 8/11). ... British club Rugby Lions coach ROB WALTON died after a "giant wave broke his spine while swimming in France, according to local media." His club said he died "during a family vacation." French radio station RTL reported that a 36-year-old British tourist "had suffered fatal whiplash swimming off a beach in Labenne, on the southwestern French coast" (SKY NEWS, 8/11).
