Liga MX Side Chiapas Pays Players' Owed Salary Totaling $1.62M

On Tuesday, Liga MX side Chiapas was "in the eye of the hurricane for the two months of payments it owed to its players," a quantity of 25M Mexican pesos ($1.62M), according to Jesús Hernández Téllez of LA AFICIÓN. But at 9pm local time on Tuesday, club Chair Carlos López Chargoy announced that the debts "had been liquidated." Prior to that, "there were rumors the club would not be able to participate in the Liga MX draft if players did not receive at least one month of their owed salaries." Chargoy: "There is no problem with the players, [but] it is true that we had a few days' delay with the salary. It was covered" (LA AFICIÓN, 6/9).
