La Liga Side Málaga Owner Weighing Bids From Chinese, British Investors

La Liga side Málaga is "experiencing uncertainty" over a potential change in ownership, according to Carlos Cariño of AS. The "most clear offer is the one presented by Double-Edged Sport in the name of Chinese businessmen." There is "also interest from a British group" of investors. Club execs were scheduled to meet with bidders from China on Monday. The Chinese group has offered Málaga Owner Abdullah Al-Thani €30M ($33.7M), and would assume the club's debt of around €31M ($34.8M). This group "comes with plans:" €10M ($11.2M) for player signings and a plan to increase the stadium capacity by 15,000. Al-Thani "does not want to sell at the moment and the Chinese are going to reiterate their proposal." On "the other hand, it is believed" that one month ago, Málaga Exec VP Moayad Shatat -- who resigned last week -- met with a British group that "also expressed interest in buying the club." That group "could be preparing a proposal even greater than the offer by the Chinese" (AS, 6/8).
