La Liga side Málaga Exec VP MOAYAD SHATAT announced his resignation on Wednesday. Shatat began his tenure with the club in '12. His departure "could be related to the possible sale of the club" to Chinese investor Wang Kangning, with Double-Edged Sports as an intermediary (MARCA, 6/3). ... La Liga side Almería on Tuesday named ALBERTO BENITO CASTEÑEDA its sports director. Benito Casteñeda previously served in the same role for the club before "leaving for personal reasons two seasons ago" (EFE, 6/2). ... Serie A side Inter announced ROBERT FAULKNER as the club’s new chief communications officer. Faulkner has more than 20 years of experience in media and communications both in sport and the corporate world and will join the Nerazzurri in time for their tour of China in July. Faulkner was previously head of communications for UEFA during a 12-year career at European football’s governing body. After 12 years at UEFA, in '13 he was appointed senior consultant at int'l company Leidar Communications, working across the organization’s sporting and corporate divisions (Inter).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Brasileiro side Cruzeiro "already has a replacement" for former coach MARCELO OLIVEIRA, who was "sacked on Tuesday." Former Flamengo coach VANDERLEI LUXEMBURGO "will be the new Cruzeiro coach" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 6/2). ... RAFA BENITEZ has been "confirmed as the new coach of Real Madrid on a three-year contract." The Spaniard takes over from CARLO ANCELOTTI, who departed the Bernabeu last week "just 12 months after guiding the club to their 10th European Cup success." Madrid-born Benitez "has spent the past two seasons" with Serie A side Napoli (SKY SPORTS, 6/3).
