JONATHAN DAVIES is joining the group as managing director of advertiser partnerships for Eurosport and Discovery Pan-Europe. He will lead both Eurosport pan-regional and Discovery Int’l ad sales teams and report to Eurosport CEO PETER HUTTON. Former Eurosport Development Dir JULIEN BERGEAUD is promoted to senior VP, country manager of France and sports rights Southern Europe (Eurosport).
COACHES/MANAGERS: Mexico's National Commission for Physical Culture & Sport (CONADE) announced that SERGIO VALDEOLMILLOS will coach the Mexican national basketball team during this summer's Pan American Games in Toronto in July and the FIBA Americas Championship, a pre-Olympic qualifying tournament in Mexico City in August (LA AFICIÓN, 5/13). ... Liga MX side Tijuana announced the departure of coach DANIEL GUZMÁN. The club announced in a statement that "this was a mutual agreement between the coach and team, and thanked him for his services." Guzmán was hired by Tijuana in '14 (LA AFICIÓN, 5/12). ... Ligue 1 side AS Monaco announced that Portuguese coach LEONARDO JARDIM has extended his contract until '19, saying that the "best is yet to come from his young team." The 40-year-old Jardim, who "took over last June on a two-year contract after joining from Sporting, has led Monaco to the verge of a Champions League spot for next season" (REUTERS, 5/12). ... League One side Chesterfield has appointed DEAN SAUNDERS as its new manager on a two-year contract following PAUL COOK’s departure for Portsmouth.
