Chinese Investor Fu Yixiang Expresses Interest In Buying AC Milan, Selling Shares

Chinese investor Fu Yixiang revealed his colleagues "want to buy" AC Milan from Silvio Berlusconi and sell shares to 500,000 fans, according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. The Rossoneri are in "dire financial straits" and La Repubblica claimed the club could "even put plans to build a new stadium on hold" due to a €92M loss registered in Dec. '14. Fu said, "China has chosen Milan because it's a great club. All the main investors are linked to the football world. The Wanda group bought TV rights company Infront, Jack Ma of Alibaba owns 50 percent of Guangzhou Evergrande. ... The Huawei group is a very active brand in sponsorship and already partners Milan." Berlusconi has suggested AC Milan is worth around €1B ($1.06B), but Fu revealed a "different approach to financing the deal." He said, "We could only spend that money by selling shares to the fans. ... It wouldn't be hard to find 500,000 fans ready to invest. A Milan side built by the Chinese people could become an unstoppable star in the football world" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 4/12).
