Spanish Second Division Side Real Betis Planning Renovation If Club Secures Promotion

Counting on the benefit of promotion to La Liga, Spanish second division side Real Betis "is working to evolve in all facets," according to González & Morán of MARCA. One of the club's priorities "is improving the playing surface at its stadium." If Betis is promoted to La Liga for next season, the club is planning to replace the surface to "finally change a drainage system" dating back to '82. The problem "is the same as always, the financing." This project would cost nearly €500,000 ($540,000), making Betis "seek alternatives to obtain revenue" to help cover the cost of the renovation. Options being considered by the club's administrative council include music concerts or bullfights, "although these seem to be ruled out" (MARCA, 3/18).
