Carlos Slim Reportedly Interested In Acquiring Stake In AC Milan; Telmex Dir Denies Report

Italian daily La Repubblica reported that Mexican businessman Carlos Slim "could be one of the principal candidates to acquire a 30% stake in AC Milan," according to CRITICA. The club is "currently experiencing one of the biggest crises in its history," and Slim, "the second-richest man in the world," is interested in AC Milan. The news follows comments by AC Milan Owner Silvio Berlusconi, who said he "wants to sell part of his shares" (CRITICA, 3/8). LA AFICION reported Arturo Elías Ayub, the director of Slim-owned Fundación Telmex, "denied the rumors." He tweeted, "Seguro a alguien le interesa subir el precio de venta del @acmilan , ES FALSO que @carlosslim este interesado en comprarlo." ("I assure anyone interested in raising the sale price of @acmilan, IT IS FALSE that @carlosslim is interested in buying it") (LA AFICION, 3/9).
