Brasileiro Side Corinthians Risks Losing $4.5M From Signing Of Ángel Romero

Brasileiro side Corinthians player Ángel Romero has a "good chance of generating millions in debt" for the club despite not playing in one of its 12 games this year, according to Dassler Marques of UOL. Romero's addition to the team in '14 cost Corinthians R$6.6M, but his contract is "valid until July '19." If Romero is not traded by the end of the season, it will be "up to Corinthians to reimburse investors" approximately R$13M ($4.5M) by the end of his contract. Corinthians Football Superintendent Andrés Sanchez explained that the club has the option to purchase 30% of Romero's rights for two years. Sanchez, who intially "suggested signing Romero" as well as potentially signing his twin brother, Óscar Romero, for similar figures, also noted that his trade must be negotiated by the end of the season to avoid the club paying investors back (UOL, 3/3).
