Spanish Football Federation Hits Back At CSD President Cardenal As Clash Continues

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has released a response to Spanish Superior Sports Council (CSD) President Miguel Cardenal, who has asked the RFEF to submit its accounts for auditing, according to MARCA. The RFEF statement said, "Miguel Cardenal is not telling the truth." It added that it has "always complied with the law and finishes with a barbed comment aimed at the Spanish government, and minister José Ignacio Wert in particular," saying, "Where is the esteemed Minister for Culture, Education and Sport in all this?" Last week, Cardenal said that the Federation should "allow its accounts to be audited." The statement continued, "We want it to be known that the public funds we receive are used for specific purposes, and that we keep certification for how it is all used. The RFEF believes that the attitude of the Secretary of State is an abuse of rights and law, and that he has used and continues to incorrectly use information from the auditing of accounts, superficial revision and other federal information" (MARCA, 2/2).
