Football Notes: Tunisia Football Official Resigns From CAF In Protest

Tunisian Football Federation President Wadie Jary "resigned from the Confederation of African Football on Sunday in protest at the controversial manner of his team’s exit from the African Nations Cup." A soft penalty "cost Tunisia a semi-final place on Saturday." It "was the second soft penalty in successive games for Equatorial Guinea," which is an "unlikely" Nations Cup semi-finalist (REUTERS, 2/1). ... Brazilian authorities said that a 16-year-old fan "was shot to death in a confrontation involving rival fan groups and police after a football match in southern Brazil." The "fighting happened after Novo Hamburgo and local rival Aimore drew 2-2 in the first division of the Rio Grande do Sul state championship on Sunday" (AP, 2/2).
