Bristol City May Seek $375,000 From West Ham Pending FIFA Ruling On Diafra Sakho

League One side Bristol City will demand compensation from EPL West Ham if FIFA determines that "Diafra Sakho should not have played in their FA Cup tie," according to Sam Cunningham of the London DAILY MAIL. Senegal was "furious with West Ham for not releasing Sakho for the Africa Cup of Nations then playing him in their fourth-round clash with Bristol City where he scored the winner." FIFA is investigating the situation "but would not put a timeline on when a conclusion is expected." A West Ham spokesperson said, "Diafra Sakho and West Ham United vigorously deny that they have acted in breach of FIFA regulations." Bristol City will look for in the region of £250,000 ($375,600) if it is deemed that Sakho "should not have played against them." Bristol City would have won £90,000 ($135,200) in prize money for "progressing to the fifth round and would have been set to receive far more from gate receipts" (DAILY MAIL, 2/2).
