Munich's Economic Council Approves $88M Renovation Of City's Olympic Stadium

Munich's economic council approved the €76M ($88M) renovation of the city's Olympic Stadium, according to BR. The decision "was delayed in December after the Social Democratic Party asked for additional information on the various renovation proposals." The now approved measure "will include upgrades to all levels of the stadium that are used for open-air events -- the whole backstage area, including locker rooms and technical operations." The stadium's technical operations, in particular water connections and fire safety, "will be completely replaced." The two other renovation proposals, "which would have been significantly cheaper, would have impacted the stadium's operations or turned the stadium into a museum" (BR, 1/20).
