Canadian SONIA DENONCOURT "has been appointed" CONCACAF's director of refereeing. Denoncourt's role "will be to head all aspects" of refereeing and the "development of referees across the region, including directing the Heads of Refereeing in the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU)." Denocourt "is the first female to hold such a position covering both the men's and women's games in a confederation globally" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 12/12). ... Int'l Equestrian Federation (FEI) Secretary General INGMAR DE VOS has been elected president of the world governing body, "winning a solid majority in the first round of voting." De Vos, the Belgium nominee for the position being vacated by PRINCESS HAYA after eight years, "gathered the two-thirds majority required under the FEI constitution to be elected in the first ballot." The results of the electronic poll showed that 98 federations "voted for him." French nominee PIERRE DURAND received 21 votes, Swiss nominee PIERRE GENECAND received six votes, and British nominee JOHN MCEWAN "collected six votes." Danish candidate ULF HELGSTRAND "formally withdrew his nomination before voting" (HORSE TALK, 12/14).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Inter Milan coach ROBERTO MANCINI named former Barcelona defender SILVINHO "as his right-hand man as the Italian giants look to rescue their faltering season." Silvinho, 40, "has already worked as an assistant coach at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte, Sport Recife and Corinthians in his native Brazil" (AFP, 12/14). ... French Pro A basketball club ASVEL has "found its new coach." A month after dismissing PIERRE VINCENT, the club appointed J.D. JACKSON Friday. The French-Canadian coach arrives after interim coach NORDINE GHRIB led the club to four victories in its last five league games (LES ECHOS, 12/13). ... Former Ligue 2 side Sochaux coach MÉCHA BAZDAREVIC is the new coach of the Bosnia-Herzegovina national team. He replaces SAFET SUSIC, who was "dismissed after the poor performance of the team in Euro 2016 qualifiers" (FRANCE FOOTBALL, 12/13).
