Event Notes: Real-Cruz Azul Club WC Match Forced To Change Venues

Real Madrid's Club World Cup semifinal against Liga MX side Cruz Azul on Tuesday "has been moved to Marrakech due to poor pitch conditions in Rabat." Questions were raised about the "condition of the pitch" in Rabat following Cruz Azul's extra-time win over A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday and FIFA has "confirmed the switch" (GOAL, 12/14). ... Two World Cup ski jumps and two Nordic combined events planned for February in the Czech Republic "have been cancelled." The Int'l Ski Federation (FIS) said that the events, "scheduled in the northern city of Liberec on Feb. 7-8, were cancelled for organizational reasons." It was "not clear whether the races will be run at different venues" (AP, 12/12).
