Germany On Shortlist To Host 2019 FIBA World Cup, Could Co-Host Together With France

The German Basketball Federation (DBB) "is on the shortlist to host the 2019 FIBA World Cup," according to SPIEGEL ONLINE. It is also possible that Germany "could co-host the event together with France." Other candidates are China, the Philippines, Qatar and Turkey. FIBA "will award the tournament in June." FIBA may also announce the host of the 2023 World Cup in June "as the same countries are in the running for the event." The DBB announced its ambitions in November. The 2019 World Cup will be the first one to feature an increased field of 32 countries (SPIEGEL ONLINE, 12/11).
