Wales Rugby League Signs Record Breaking Partnership With My Club Betting

Wales Rugby League and My Club Betting announced a partnership that will help underpin the development of the sport from grassroots to elite level through the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. A record-breaking six-figure sponsorship deal has been agreed that will see My Club Betting become the principal sponsor of the Wales national team, while community and professional level clubs throughout the country will also benefit. As part of the deal, a new Wales Rugby League betting website will be set up. Twenty percent of revenues generated by the site will be invested back into the sport. Rugby League clubs throughout Wales will be able to set up their own websites to create revenue streams and Wales Rugby League will also benefit every time a bet is placed (Wales Rugby League). The PA reported Wales Rugby League Chair Brian Juliff believes that it "will help them realise their ambition of becoming one of the world's top four nations." Juliff: "We set out our vision two years ago to be a top-four nation rugby league nation, in terms of performance and governance. ... I've not got anything against Australian players coming into the game to play for other nations, but in Wales the only way we'll build a supporter base is with Welsh boys playing for Wales. Of course, money is going to be key and I'm hoping the My Club Betting deal is going to add that income for us. It's a significant sum" (PA, 11/2).
