Former Chelsea defender PAUL ELLIOTT was appointed to the FA’s Inclusion Advisory Board, "a year after being at the centre of a race row." Elliott "will now resume his career tackling discrimination and promoting inclusion in football." Elliott said, "I have been committed voluntarily for the last 30 years in this area and I still feel I have much to offer. I am honored, humbled and delighted to be offered a role by The FA on their Inclusion Advisory Board" (London EVENING STANDARD, 7/15). Elliott will replace MICHAEL JOHNSON, who "quit six months ago after footage emerged of the former Birmingham defender making homophobic comments." Johnson "resigned from the IAB in the wake of footage emerging that showed him describing homosexuality as 'detestable'" (London DAILY MAIL, 7/15). ... Iran Football Federation President ALI KAFFASHIAN said that CARLOS QUEIROZ "will extend his contract on Thursday." Queiroz’s contract "expired after the 2014 FIFA World Cup but the Iranian federation has shown interest to keep the Portuguese coach until the 2015 AFC Asian Cup." Queiroz "is reportedly also a potential candidate for the vacant South Africa coaching job" (TEHRAN TIMES, 7/14).
