Second Bundesliga Club RB Leipzig Alters Logo To Fulfill DFL License Requirement

Newly promoted 2nd Bundesliga club RB Leipzig "has fulfilled a central requirement of the German Football League (DFL) and altered its logo," according to the SID. The club's logo "was altered to have less similarities to the logo of its main sponsor Red Bull." The slightly altered logo "was unveiled on the club's Facebook and Twitter accounts on Monday." The redesign "was one requirement by the DFL, so the club, which receives financial support from Red Bull, would be granted its 2nd Bundesliga license." The yellow sun in the background between the two red bulls "was removed from the logo." The sun "is an integral part of Red Bull's logo." To fill the space, designers "enlarged the football." The abbreviation RB, which stands for RasenBallsport but also hints at Red Bull's involvement, "was moved to the bottom of the logo and is now in the same color as the word Leipzig." The club is also "required to appoint a majority of independent people to its board and management" (SID, 5/26).
