Executive Transactions

After MotoGP driver VALENTINO ROSSI fired crew chief JEREMY BURGESS last week, it was announced Monday that "SILVANO GALBUSERA is the man in place to try to fill Burgess' rather big shoes, effective immediately." For the past two years, Galbusera "worked with Italian Marco Melandri in BMW’s World Superbike team" (CYCLE NEWS, 11/11). ... Chilean football side Deportes La Serena has hired LUIS PÉREZ to take over as coach (EMOL, 11/11). ... Olympic Council of Ireland President PATRICK HICKEY "is assured a new term as president of the European Olympic Committees" when the General Assembly vote takes place in Rome on Nov. 22-23. When nominations closed there were "no other candidates for the position." Another four-year term means that the Dubliner "will be in charge to oversee the staging of the inaugural European Games in Baku in 2015, an event that has been very much Hickey’s baby." Hickey: "I am delighted to be the single candidate, I hope it shows that my colleagues are happy with my work at the EOC" (SPORTS NEWS IRELAND, 11/11).
