NFL May Ban Cowboys' Elliott As It Faces Domestic Violence Scrutiny

CBS’ Jason La Canfora said Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott was "recently interviewed by the NFL regarding domestic violence allegations against him and that investigation remains open." La Canfora: "Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones raised the topic of that probe with top NFL investigator Lisa Friel at this month's owners meetings according to multiple sources. That intersection occurred with other team and league executives within earshot and Friel did not respond to Jones during the interaction." A complaint was "filed against Elliott this summer alleging five instances of domestic abuse," but the prosecutor "declined to bring charges" (“The NFL Today,” CBS, 10/30).

The NFL has "made it clear in its domestic violence policy that suspensions can still be warranted even in instances where no charges are brought." Given the negative fallout from the case involving former Giants K Josh Brown, the NFL is "once again under intense scrutiny regarding its handling of domestic abuse allegations" (CBSSPORTS.com, 10/30).
