Browns Unveil Statue Of HOFer Jim Brown In Front Of Stadium

The Browns today unveiled a statue of Pro Football HOFer Jim Brown in front of First Energy Stadium, the first statue of a Browns player in Cleveland. The ceremony highlighted Brown's on and off-field accomplishments. Both Brown himself and team Owner Jimmy Haslam III spoke at the event. Brown: "This represents one of the highest moments of my life" (Browns).

The "long-awaited, eight-foot bronze work by local artist David Deming" had been "quietly in the works for months in a Lakewood studio and foundry." The Browns "commissioned the statue in February, and it is expected to be the first of several, though none other has been announced" (CLEVELAND.com, 9/16).
