NFL Commemorates 9/11 With Pregame Videos, Lapel Pins

​The NFL and its clubs commemorated the 15th anniversary of 9/11 prior to today's games with video messages from President Obama and former President George W. Bush. All team coaching staffs wore 9/11 lapel pins and a special 9/11 decal was placed on players' helmets. Obama in the video said, "It's Sunday and here in America that means it's time for football, but on this day 15 years ago, the world was shaken" (THE DAILY).

Vice President Joe Biden took part in the pregame ceremonies for today's Browns-Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, helping wave the field-length American flag. Biden is a renowned Eagles fan (THE DAILY).

Bengals made a "brief visit" to the 9/11 Memorial yesterday. Bengals President Mike Brown and coach Marvin Lewis led the "traveling party through an only-in-New-York scene of solemnity." QB Andy Dalton "appreciated Lewis' efforts." Dalton: "He wanted everybody to realize the importance of the day and the importance of us playing in New York on the 15th anniversary" (BENGALS.com, 9/10).
