Fans Rewarded For Braving Frigid Temperatures At MLB Games

Yesterday's Indians-White Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field "was 32 degrees with a wind chill of 25" at the game's 3:10pm CT start time, and fans who "braved the cold temperatures were offered gift certificates for a free upper-deck seat or a $5 outfield reserve seat at a future April or May home game" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 4/10). In Detroit, the Tigers yesterday "played the coldest game in Comerica Park history," as it was 31 degrees at first pitch. The announced attendance was 32,419, proving Tigers fans "to be a tough, hardy bunch" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 4/10).

Meanwhile, the White Sox during their home opening series against the Indians this week unveiled their new 8,000-square-foot video board. White Sox manager Robin Ventura said, "It looks nice. I don't know if it will make us play any better, but I like it" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 4/9).
