After NASCAR Xfinity Series Race, Road America Eyeing Sprint Cup

Hosting a future NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is "in mind" for Road America officials, whose track hosted yesterday's Xfinity Series Road America 180 Fired up by Johnsonville. Yesterday's race earned "the top billing as far as stock car racing goes" this weekend because the Sprint Cup is off, which "isn't lost on Road America officials who are hoping to showcase the track and facilities with the racing world watching." In order to meet NASCAR's requirements, the facility "has made improvements to the barriers in turns one and six, added safety fencing and catch fences as well as improved the sand traps and catch areas around the track" (SHEBOYGAN PRESS, 8/30).
