NBA Kings Fans Set Decibel Record As Loudest Crowd Attempts Roll On

NBA Kings fans "smashed the Guinness World Record for crowd noise during a Friday night game against the Pistons at Sleep Train Arena." The sellout crowd of 17,317 during a first-quarter stoppage "roared at 124.9 decibels, destroying the Guinness World Record" for Loudest Crowd Roar at an Indoor Sports Stadium. The fans then "broke their own mark" during the second quarter, "roaring at 126 decibels to set a new record" (SI.com, 11/16).

Meanwhile, a N.Y. TIMES front-page piece today examines the trend of crowds trying to be the loudest under the header, "Ground-Shaking Noise Rocks NFL, And Eardrums Take Big Hit" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/17).
