Nashville Metro Council Could Approve Bonds For MLS Stadium

Nashville's Metro Council today will take up the "bond funding needed" for a $275M soccer stadium on the city's fairgrounds, after a "key Metro Council committee" last night recommended approval of Mayor Megan Barry's proposal. The Budget & Finance Committee voted 10-3 to issue $225M in revenue bonds, a "strong indication there will be a majority of support" among the full 40-member council (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 11/7). For Nashville's prospective MLS ownership group, securing stadium financing "would mean meeting all the requirements asked of them by the league to land" an expansion franchise (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 11/6).
