NFL Jets Owner Woody Johnson yesterday officially "passed on the duties of team chairman and CEO to his brother," Christopher Johnson. The "anticipated move came after Woody Johnson was sworn in as US Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland" (SNY.TV.com, 8/21). 

Uruguay President Tabare Vazquez yesterday said that his country and Argentina will "officially launch their joint bid" for the '30 FIFA World Cup next week (AFP, 8/22). 

The Solheim Cup at Des Moines Golf & Country Club "broke the event’s attendance record" with 124,426 for the week. The previous mark was set in '09 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. (GOLFCHANNEL.com, 8/21). 

Online trading platform and brokerage company Instaforex named tennis player Daria Kasatkina a brand ambassador (InstaForex).

Intersport today will announce its inaugural 3-on-3 College Hoops Invitational planned for '18. The tournament will feature top collegiate players in a three-day event from March 30-April 1 in San Antonio (Intersport).
