Raiders' Las Vegas Relocation Effort Getting Into High Gear

The Raiders' potential relocation to Las Vegas is progressing quickly, as much of the "due diligence on both sides has been completed." However, there "likely will be gaps of information and additional supporting materials that owners will want to see before voting" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 1/20). Things "will move quickly" for the Las Vegas Stadium Authority board, whose legal counsel is "expected to be selected from a group of three firms" next week. Once legal representation is "in place, the pace should pick up on term sheets for lease and development agreements" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 1/20).

Clark County (Nev.) Commissioner Steve Sisolak said that he "doesn’t expect ground to be broken for a stadium for at least another year." He also "doesn’t foresee the Raiders playing in Las Vegas until it is built, unless for an exhibition game" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 1/20). Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said, "We are ready to compete. We know that Oakland offers something that Las Vegas will never have and that is legacy and loyalty" (EAST BAY TIMES, 1/20).
