St. Paul City Council To Vote On Plan For Soccer Stadium Site

The St. Paul City Council today will vote on a site plan for Minnesota United FC's new soccer stadium, as well as a "long-term plan for the 35-acre Snelling-Midway development site that includes both the stadium and the Midway Shopping Center." Letters to the city from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Council, which runs the light rail system, "raise questions about traffic congestion and 'mode split,' or the different ways fans will access the 21,500-seat stadium" (ST. This comes as Minnesota United FC later this week is set to formally announce its "expected move" to MLS for the '17 season. The stadium is scheduled for completion in '18 (STARTRIBUNE.com, 8/10).
