Feherty Talks Olympic Golf, Trump Interview On "The Tonight Show"

Golf Channel’s David Feherty appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” last night, and host Jimmy Fallon told him he was a “big fan.” Feherty: “I love people with low standards.” Feherty said with the Rio Games “coming up, I’m just hoping they don’t drug test announcers.” Feherty: “If they find a performance-enhancing substance for golf, do you know how pissed off I’ll be? I spent 20 years of my life looking for it and there isn’t one. Steroids gives you smaller balls and a worse temper. That’s not going to help you play golf. Amphetamines make you more nervous. Human growth hormone: You can hit it farther into the woods. But the one that I love is deer antlers. ... They‘re worried that one of the players is going to start head-butting another one.”

Feherty said his interview with Donald Trump was “phenomenal” and he “is ‘The Donald.’” Fallon: “It’s not a character, that’s him.” Feherty: “If you ask if that’s who he is, (he’ll say), ‘Yes, that’s who I am and I’ll be the same person tomorrow, possibly worse,’ and you’ve got to love him for that.” When asked if was going to interview Hillary Clinton, Feherty said, “I interviewed her husband and he told me everything about her.” Feherty noted during NBC’s coverage of the Rio Games Opening Ceremony, he will interview President Obama, but “I have no idea why” he was chosen to conduct the Q&A. Feherty: “It’s a great honor” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 7/27).
