Cubs Owner Tom Ricketts Kicks Off Brand Engagement Summit

Cubs Owner Tom Ricketts talked with attendees of the '16 Intersport Brand Engagement Summit at Wrigley Field last night prior to a home game against the Dodgers. Ricketts gave insight into the sponsorship revenue strategy that the team has developed since the new ownership took over in '09, including paring the number of partners. Ricketts: "If you have too many partners, not only do you not service them as well as you’d like to service them, but they don’t feel the ties or commitment to the team." He also highlighted the success the Cubs have had in increasing their charitable giving and involvement in the community, which was one of his primary goals (THE DAILY).

The fifth annual conference now heads into a full day of sessions at the Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago. The event opens with a CMO Roundtable and includes discussions of e-sports, activation strategies and emerging technologies. See the full agenda. Look for complete coverage this week in THE DAILY, and follow discussions from the conference on Twitter using the hashtag #SBJEngage.
