Attendance For WCC Men's Finale Down; Summit League Sets Record

Gonzaga defeated St. Mary's last night for the West Coast Conference men's basketball title "in front of an announced crowd of 7,418 at Orleans Arena" in Las Vegas (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 3/9). Last year's Gonzaga-BYU final at the same venue drew 8,585 fans (THE DAILY). 

Meanwhile, South Dakota State defeated North Dakota State last night in the Summit League finale, drawing 10,188 fans to the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. That marks a "league record for title game attendance" (BISMARCK TRIBUNE, 3/9).

Wisconsin-Green Bay defeated Wright State for the Horizon League title last night in front of 4,312 fans in Detroit, "which wasn't bad considering the matchup" consisted of two teams from outside Michigan. The title game "drew a decent crowd in its first year at Joe Louis Arena," but it "lacked some local appeal after Detroit and Oakland were eliminated" (MLIVE.com, 3/8).
