NHL Expected To Announce Dates For Multiple Outdoor Games

Dates for multiple NHL outdoor games "could be confirmed and announced" as early as today. These include a Flyers-Penguins game at Heinz Field next season, "expected to be played" Feb. 18, 2017 (POST-GAZETTE.com, 3/8). The Heinz Field game "will be a part of the 50th anniversary celebration of both teams entering the NHL" (PHILLY.com, 3/9).

With the Blackhawks playing the Blues in St. Louis tonight, it was "tentatively planned" that Scottrade Center "would be the stage" for the official confirmation of a Blackhawks-Blues Winter Classic at Busch Stadium on Jan. 2, 2017. But as of yesterday, the NHL "had not issued a press release advancing a 'special announcement,' which it did prior to revealing Sunday" plans for an Oilers-Jets Heritage Classic (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 3/9).
