Manfred: MLB Close To Verdicts In Three Domestic Violence Cases

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred yesterday said that the league "has made progress in determining verdicts in three cases that will serve as the unveiling of the sport's new domestic violence policy," and that "announcements in two of the cases could be made within days." Manfred would not say which of the cases were "closer to wrapping up." The domestic violence policy, jointly negotiated with the MLBPA and announced last summer, gives the commissioner "broad authority to determine penalties regardless of whether players are charged criminally" (WASHINGTON POST, 2/23).

Meanwhile, Manfred today has a "prearranged" meeting scheduled with Cubs Chair Tom Ricketts (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 2/23).
