Coca-Cola To Replace Pepsi As Mets' Official Soft Drink

The Mets today will formally announce that as of Jan. 1, Coca-Cola "will replace Pepsi as the official soft drink" of the team at Citi Field. The Mets last month said that they would be ending their deal with Pepsi, which had been a sponsor since the ballpark opened in '09. Mr. Met and the Coca-Cola Polar Bear today were scheduled for a "joint bell ringing at the New York Stock Exchange" (NJ.com, 12/6). The large Pepsi sign at the venue "wasn't seen by the team and fans as just an advertisement but as a key component of the stadium's aesthetics" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 12/7).
