Joe Gibbs Racing Appealing NASCAR's Suspension Of Kenseth

Joe Gibbs Racing today will appeal the two-race suspension given to NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth for "intentionally wrecking Joey Logano" in Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway. A three-person National Motorsports Appeals Panel "can either uphold NASCAR's original penalty, reduce it, increase it or overturn it completely" (FOXSPORTS.com, 11/4).

Logano at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas indicated that NASCAR "made the right decision to suspend" Kenseth for two races. Logano said officials "needed to regain control of our sport." He added, "I don’t think there’s an actual code. ... Everyone’s driver code is different. No one has ever sat down with anyone and said this is the code. I think everyone uses common sense, and that’s what the driver code is" (NBCSPORTS.com, 11/4).
