Approval Process Begins For Warriors' New Mission Bay Arena

The approval process for the Warriors' new arena tips off today, with the S.F. Office of Community Investment & Infrastructure scheduled to "certify the project's environmental impact report." The Planning Commission on Thursday will "vote on the design and allocate 580,000 square feet of commercial space" next to the arena site. However, the Mission Bay Alliance opposition group yesterday "held a news conference to point out what they feel are the plan's weaknesses," arguing the team should pay for transportation improvements "up front and out of pocket" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/3).
