Agent Arn Tellem Leaving WMG To Join Palace Sports & Entertainment

By Liz Mullen

Arn Tellem is leaving Wasserman Media Group to become Vice Chair of Palace Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Pistons. The move will be announced later today. Tellem will report to Pistons Owner Tom Gores and will have broad responsibility for business strategy, public affairs, planning and development. Tellem will act as one of the Pistons Alternate Governors on the NBA BOG, but basketball operations will continue to be headed by team President and coach Stan Van Gundy. Tellem leaves WMG after nine years and after he and WMG Chair & CEO Casey Wasserman built it into one of the most dominant multi-sport athlete representation practices in the world, with more than 1,200 clients globally.

“The decision to change careers was in one sense a difficult one, because I am leaving a terrific job with great clients and an outstanding leader in Casey Wasserman,” Tellem said. “But in another sense it was an easy decision, because I am joining another great organization with an outstanding leader in Tom Gores.”

Meanwhile, the Detroit Free Press is reporting PS&E President & CEO Dennis Mannion, who was hired in '11, will continue to oversee day-to-day operations.

Judge Thomas Frawley in St. Louis today will hear arguments in the "lawsuit seeking to sidestep a public vote on stadium funding." One hearing "has already been cancelled," and Frawley is the "third judge assigned to the case." The suit was filed last month against the city by the public board that runs the Edward Jones Dome. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 6/5).

Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Over College Athletes' Image Rights

Sharp ruled that "participants in sporting events don't have publicity rights under common law in Tennessee and further concluded that the suing athletes have not adequately pleaded they've been deprived of any fundamental right" (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 6/4).
